FREE WORM TEA

With five locations in San Diego County offering FREE Worm Tea, we're in a perfect position to meet all of your gardening needs.

What is worm tea?  It’s exactly what it sounds like.  By taking worm castings and combining them in warm water with an air pump forcing in oxygen, one can create aerated a super organic fertilizer which will restore a much needed diversity and population of beneficial bacteria, fungi, and protozoa back into the soil!  It’s cheap, clean and actually smells pretty good despite the mounds of poop, molasses and inoculants squished into a teabag and bubbled in water for up to three weeks.  In fact, if it smells bad you did something wrong!

Benefits of Worm Tea Include:

  • Increases nutrient cycling in the rhizosphere (area around the roots)
  • May be useful in suppressing disease-causing pathogens
  • Helps extend root systems
  • Increases water and nutrient retention
  • Is 100% safe and natural and cannot be over-applied
  • Creates healthier plants
  • Helps breakdown of toxins in the soil and on the plants
  • Enhances the taste of fruits and vegetables (raises brix levels)

For maximum benefit, we recommend the following directions for use:

  • Plan ahead – it is important that you apply the tea the SAME DAY that you purchase it because the tea will become less oxygenated over time. Remember, the tea is alive.
  • Apply at least once per week, less is OK and more is better.
  • Apply the tea by pouring directly on the soil, or, apply as a foliar spray.
  • Use full strength for indoor and garden plants, or dilute 50/50 to cover a larger area like a lawn.
  • For larger areas like lawns, use water on the area either immediately before or after so the microbes can move down into the soil.   Potted plants are small enough that you can water to saturation with the tea itself or a tea dilution.
  • To use compost tea as a foliar (spray on the leaves), apply when the lights are off to limit the damaging effects of UV rays on the microorganisms.
